FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) presents the 2008 Robotics Competition at the LA Sports Arena.

According to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Sports Arena Calendar of Events:

“The FIRST Robotics Competition is a unique varsity sport of the mind designed to help high-school aged young people discover how interesting and rewarding the life of engineers and researchers can be. The Competition challenges teams of young people and their mentors to solve a comon problem in a six- week timeframe using a standard ‘kit of parts’ and a common set of rules. Teams build robots from the parts and ener them in competitions designed by Dean Kamen, Dr. Woodie Flowers and a committee of engineers and other professionals.”

SCHEDULE:

Thursday, March 20
Practice session: 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Friday, March 21
Preliminary and qualifying competition: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Saturday, March 22
On this day, doors will open at 8 a.m., and the event will conclude with an awards ceremony at 5 p.m.
